Daily Announcements - Friday, January 12th

Both boys and girls basketball have big games tonight at home against Beckman. Girls varsity at home at 5:30 and boys varsity at home at 7:00. Be sure to come out and support our teams!

 

CdM Ice Kings hockey defeated Beckman last night in a shoot-out.  CDM’s Duke Hoey scored a goal with an assist from Luke Miramadi in the first 2 minutes of the game.  The game was tied by the end of the 3rd period, where Joey Cianfrani won it for the team in a shoot-out.  The Ice Kings play tomorrow at 2:00 at Lakewood Ice.  The boys are doing an excellent job this season with only 1 loss, keep up the great work.

 

The Newport Mesa Ice Kings have a game Saturday at 2:05 at Lakewood Ice. The rink is located at 3975 Pixie Avenue in Lakewood. The Ice Kings are having an amazing season and have only lost one game. Their last two games have ended in very exciting shoot-outs. The games are free and our 6 CdM players would love the support!

 

CdM Theater will be holding interviews for the Footloose crew next Wednesday from 1:30-3:30 and Thursday from 3-3:30.  For more information, check on Mrs. Jecmen's school loop webpage.

 

Baseball tryouts for new high school baseball players are being held next Wednesday the 17th at 3 PM.  The tryouts will be located at the batting cages on the varsity field.  Don’t forget to bring all the appropriate baseball clothing and equipment.  If you have any questions, contact Coach Emme in room 231.

 

Girls Incorporated of Orange County are now accepting applications for their 2018 Externship Program.  Upon completion of the program, students will receive a $500 stipend.  Only sophomore and junior girls can sign up and space is very limited.  Sign up before February 16th on the Girls Incorporated Orange County website.

 

The Bank of America Charitable Foundation is now accepting applications for the 2018 Student Leaders Program.  This program is open to all juniors and seniors and recognizes those who lead and serve in their communities and beyond.  As a Bank of America Student Leader, you work as a paid intern at a local nonprofit for 8 weeks and attend a Student Leaders Summit in Washington D.C.  Sign up on the Bank of America website before the February 2nd deadline.

Baseball Tryouts for new high school baseball players are Wednesday, January 17th at 3:00pm. Meet at the batting cages on the varsity field and bring all appropriate baseball clothing and equipment. Any questions see Coach Emme in room 231.

 

OCC Freshman Priority Registration Assessment Placement Test is here, Students must have already applied online to the college and have been issued a student ID number in order to take the placement test. Please sign up for the placement test prior to Friday, February 1st 2018 with Mrs. Russell in the SRC.

 

This week our wrestling teams beat league rival Northwood at all levels.  To finish the evening, our varsity wrestlers dominated with a 63-16 victory.  Our team recorded 10 pins on the night. Our Sea King wrestlers are still undefeated in league; keep it up.

There is a mandatory FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) club meeting today at lunch in the lecture hall. All members must have their Everbrite tickets ready at the door. Also, next Thursday, there will be another FBLA Speaker’s Night- everyone is invited to come and bring friends and family.

 

There is an Armenian Club meeting tomorrow during lunch in Mr. Freedman's room 317.

Girls soccer played their league opener Tuesday at University High.  Despite the rainstorm, the girls came out and crushed it, winning 1-0. The game-winning goal was scored by defender Julie Bartz. The Sea Kings play Beckman at home tomorrow at 3:15. Come out and support the team!

 

CDM girl's wrestling history was made this past weekend as junior, Kiersten Muse, became the 1st ever tournament champion for CDM girl's wrestling.  Kiersten battled hard, pinning her way to finals enroute to a thrilling overtime victory in the finals to claim the championship at the 2 day San Dimas Classic.​  Way to go Kiersten and keep it up.

Today there will be a meeting for the Fishing Club in Ms. Ramirez’s room, room 427. They will be talking about their first fishing meet up, which will be this Saturday. Make sure to go if you are interested

 

The Freedom Project has a meeting today at lunch in Mrs. Palmers room, room 227. Stop by to learn how you can help end human trafficking in California.

Our own Mama Mary will be talking about the college application process during our meeting and the counseling staff will be leading a Naviance Training session in the same room, right after our meeting. The CDM Sailing team sent four teams, 19 sailors, to the Rose Bowl Regatta this last weekend in Long Beach.  The top team took home a third place trophy.  Go Sea Kings!

Daily Announcements - Monday, January 8th, 2018

 Unified Sea Kings will be hosting a mini basketball season. Please join us at lunch in the gym today, Monday, January 8th, Wednesday, January 10th, Wednesday, January 17th, Monday, January 22nd, and Wednesday, January 24th for practice. On Tuesday, January 30th we will be having an exhibition game after school to finish off the season. No basketball experience is required or necessary. If you have any questions please contact Mrs. Anaya in room 206.
 

Today during lunch there will be a Current Events Club meeting held in Ms. Keane's room 326. Pizza will be served.
