Principal's Message

Principal - Joshua Hill

Dear Sea Kings,

I am excited to join you this year as we embrace our new reality and adapt to thrive in it. At a time filled with uncertainty, concern, and loneliness, the certainty of school’s importance has never been clearer. School provides so much more than classes, lectures, exams, and activities. It is a place where we connect, learn about people, explore, challenge, and reaffirm our values. For the developing adolescent, it is an essential part of developing social maturity. While the current health situation has certainly complicated these important aspects of school, it has not created an insurmountable obstacle to them. We have to rise above it, figure out a way around it, and do whatever we have to do to overcome it. Doing so will take creativity, hard work, and patience. Based on what I have heard and seen, these attributes are run deeply throughout the CdM community.

Thankfully, we have the technology, we just need to become more proficient with its use. We have the community commitment reflected through our amazing support organizations including our PTA, Foundation, and Boosters. But most importantly, we have each other. That is what will enable us to succeed in this environment. We need to encourage, motivate, and lift each other. We need to help those we find struggling. We need to keep our eyes fixed on a hopeful future, get up when we fall down, and never quit. As I read the school’s mission statement posted next to my desk, I can’t help but think that we have been given a wonderful opportunity to realize our purpose: “To provide the highest level of comprehensive instruction aimed at empowering students to learn with resiliency, act with empathy, and live with integrity.”

We’ve got this.

Sincerely,

Mr. Hill
